On August 17, 18 and 19 the ECODISTR-ICT partners gathered in Antwerp, the location of the fifth and final case study, for a Hackathon in the premises of VITO with the aim to make significant progress in the preparation of the IDSS for the Antwerp case, particularly focussing on data collection and module connections.
In the beginning of the hackathon, the participants discussed the status of every component of the IDSS in order to formulate the objectives of the hackathon. During the 3 days of the hackathon IT developers and case study representatives worked intensively together which resulted in significant progress on a diverse set of modules coupled to the Ecodistr-ICT IDSS, including the data upload, design module and a module to source data from the crowd. All of these will be put into practice in the upcoming case study in Antwerp. Also a new energy calculation module was coupled to the IDSS. A user of the Ecodistr-ICT IDSS now has the option to chose from multiple energy calculation tools, a tangible benfit of the open and modular structure of the system.
We look forward to testing these new updates in the case study in Antwerp. Preparations for the end conference are also in progress, so stay tuned for more information about this event!
